September 11th

Prompt Response: A major event that has happened during my own lifetime that affected my country was the protests and riots that happened after the death of George Floyd. The death of George Floyd sparked a greater movement about police brutality in the United States. Many protests started around the country that turned into riots with people looting and burning stores. People all across the country were worried about police brutality but were also worried about their cities being destroyed. Although the panic caused by the George Floyd riots was probably not as great as what was caused by 9/11 it gave me a sense of the mental state of Americans following it.
Summary: Today in class we read our classmates feedback on our paragraph, but my group didn't make any revisions.
Reflection: Our group didn't change anything about our paragraph because although it was a little repetitive, it nailed in our point.

Explain what you will do differently the next time you write an AP Lang argument essay. Prompt Response: One thing I did well was use strong personal evidence. One area I need to improve is sophistication. I could earn the sophistication point by including the implications or limitations of my argument. I could do this by providing the counterclaim of potential opponents and then addressing it. Next time I write an AP Lang argument essay I will spend some time making a specific plan to earn the sophistication point. Summary: Today in class we went over our AP Lang argument essay scores and started writing our own poems. Reflection: Simply spitting words out onto a piece of paper to make a poem is easy, but making a good poem will take a lot of time and be much more difficult.

Prompt : Describe one thing that makes you different from other people.  Prompt Response: One thing that makes me different from other people is that I want to start my own business in the future. I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I might work for a very small business, but I could never see myself working for a big corporation. I definitely don't want to work in large bureaucratic organizations. I want my work to directly impact me. Summary: In class today, we identified the rhetorical situation of scenes from movies and then took a quiz. Reflection: It was hard for me to identify the scene with Leonardo Dicaprio as an argument rather than a fight because the husband and wife were yelling so much.

Prompt:  How has living in or around Atlanta influenced the way you see your community, culture, or identity? If you were speaking to someone unfamiliar with Atlanta, what would you want them to understand about your community? Prompt Response: Living in Atlanta has influenced the way I see my community by giving me many different perspectives. Within a 10 minute drive of my house I can see very rich neighborhoods littered with mansions or poor tenement housing. The area I live in is also very diverse ethnically. Being surrounded by very different people and hearing their opinions everyday, lets me see topics from multiple different viewpoints. If I was speaking to someone unfamiliar with Atlanta, I would want them to know we live in a place full of contingencies and it is hard to come across one singular correct answer for a question regarding Atlanta.
